I find the spontaneity of painting an important strength in my work. The quickness with which I put down the first lines make the image a little clumsy but it also has a sincerity that I love. The searching brushstrokes reveal a sensitivity that is important to me.
I want to break with the culture that we only show the polished end results but this is also something I struggle with. In spite of that I'm convinced it's the attempts we make that are important, it doesn't have to be perfect. 

The things that spark my interest are very ordinary. Subtle fragments of everyday life as I know it. The story of which I am a part of, such as my home situation, the place I take care of and the people I love. The clutter that gets a place in our life tells something about us.
My work is about my life but it could be anyone's. It's about trying and doing our best. Something I have to keep reminding myself of
